The Open Door Baptist Church in the Deepings originated as one of a number of ‘church-plants’ from Harris Street Baptist Church in Peterborough.

A small congregation was formed in the Deepings who soon started meeting on Sunday mornings at Deeping St James Community Primary School.

Later the congregation merged with another Christian fellowship in the Deepings and continued to thrive. A decision was made to purchase a redundant snooker hall on Spalding Road. Volunteers from the Church assisted in transforming the 2-storey building into the ‘Open Door Centre’ with a hall large enough for worship services and a cafe area and meeting rooms downstairs.

Over the next 30 years the Church assisted many people to see God’s love, receive God’s love and respond to God’s love. And that’s what we continue to do because it’s what we’re here for!
